Most of the demographic we serve is at or below the poverty line, and during the lockdown phase of the pandemic, we found that many students in our community no longer had access to art supplies because they had none at home. We've been working since 2020 to remedy this. For many families in our community, the pandemic has made things exponentially more difficult, and the ability of these families to provide art supplies has also become more difficult. And as artists, we know that in difficult times, creativity and artistic expression are often the things that help us cope and heal. Because of this, we're continuing to supply basic art kits to students who have little or no access to art supplies at home. Basic art kits include watercolor and brushes, scissors, glue, markers, colored pencils, drawing supplies, multi-media sketchbook, and construction paper.
A $50 donation provides 1 student with a basic art kit and enough art supplies to last them a full year. For so many families in our community, a box full of art supplies is not just crayons and markers, but a box full of endless creative possibilities.
